Rafael has over 20 years of experience in technology and automation management in industrial companies.
He is currently the Manager of Information Technology, Telecommunications and Process Control at Antamina Mining Company where he has worked since 2001. During his time at Antamina, he has held the positions of Process Control Engineer, Senior Supervisor Information Systems and Superintendent of Information Technology and Telecommunications. Antamina is the largest copper mine in Peru, and also produces zinc, molybdenum, silver and lead concentrates. Its major shareholders are BHP and Glencore.
Rafael is also the President of the Technology and Innovation Committee of the Peruvian National Society of Mining, Hydrocarbons and Energy (SNMPE).
Rafael holds a degree Engineer, Information Systems from Universidad Privada Anterior Orrego, a MBA from Universidad ESAN and a diploma in International Business from Tsignhua University. He has also undertaken post graduate work in information technology, executive management and innovation at Carnegie Mellon University, Stanford’s Graduation School of Business, and the Peter F. Drucker and Masatoshi Ito Graduate School of Management.
